Enhanced Services

FOR CUSTOMERS WHO TRAVEL

Travel Companion/Remote Programmable Service:
For customers who travel, or will be changing their phone number, we offer the Remote Programmable Service. It allows the customer to change their callback number from the road whenever they want. Once the remote callback number is programmed, it will function exactly as a regular callback line. To enable such feature, the appropriate box needs to be checked off on the application form. A five digit Personal Identification Number will then be assigned by IDT.

Travel Companion Instructions:

  • Use tone telephone to dial: (917) 778 - 9500  in the U.S..

  • Enter the 10 digit access number on the welcome letter

  • followed by the selected 5 digit Personal ID Number (PIN) and

  • follow the voice prompt instructions ( Changing the callback number will not trigger a callback ).

Speed Dial Service:

To save time while dialing, we offer the option of programming frequently dialed numbers into the callback service. This feature can be activated by checking off the appropriate box on the application form.

Speed Dial Instructions:

After dialing the Personal Access Number and hearing the Voice prompt, proceed to dial one of the provisioned Speed Dial Codes followed by the * key. The system will automatically call the number and establish the connection.

Customized Voice Prompts:

If the customer will be calling through a switchboard, we can personalize the callback voice prompt to ask for the customer by name, room number or extension. If the phone system is automated, we can program the voice to play the tones of the numbers of your extension. This way the customer will always receive his callback, no matter where they are calling from. To activate this service, write the extension or the name next to the relevant callback number on the application form and indicate whether the switchboard is human or automated.

Payment Methods

IDT accepts cash prepayment and all major credit cards including: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club.

Credit Card Payments:

If a customer wishes to pay by credit card:
They must submit their credit card information
credit card billing address and cardholder’s signature on order form.

Each month, as usage is calculated, the customer’s credit card will be charged in $250.00 increments. Whenever the customer reaches $250.00, their credit card will be charged. If the charge is declined, the lines will be locked immediately and the agent will be notified. For example, if a customer uses $532.00 worth of callback service in one month, they will be charged $500.00 during the course of the month and $32.00 at the end of the month. If a customer uses anything less than $250.00, the card will not be charged until the end of the month.

Cash Prepayments:

Customers not using a credit card as their payment method must submit a prepayment prior to activation of service. The prepayment should reflect two months worth of estimated usage ( the minimum accepted payment is $250.00 ). The service will only be activated once IDT has received prepayment. If it is a wire transfer please forward a copy of the wire transfer sheet accompanied by a list which should include the customer name and the exact dollar amount to be dispersed to each customer. This list is crucial to ensure proper fund allocation.

Billing Procedures

Each call made using callback consists of 2 calls.
The first is when the switch calls back at the callback number. This is what is called the “first leg” of the call.
The second is the outbound call or “second leg”.

On a one leg bill, only calls which are completed by reaching the desired party will appear. The rate which is charged is the combined rate of the country where the call originated (the first leg) and the country called (the second leg).

On a two leg bill, the first and second leg of each call will appear separately and the rates will be separate as well. Please realize that every time you call your access code and receive a callback with the IDT voice prompt you will be billed from the time of the voice prompt because IDT is incurring the cost of calling you where ever you are in the world.

One leg Billing:

Customers will be billed on the call from the moment they pick up the call back and hear the voice prompt until the moment they hang up on the outbound call. It is therefore normal for the call to be half a minute to a minute longer than they might think due to the time it takes to connect on the outbound leg. In the event they reach a busy number, or the party they have tried to call is unavailable, then they will not be charged for the call. The number they tried to call will NOT show on the call detail report. Call attempts that are interrupted by an international auto attendant with messages such as:  “All international circuits are busy” or “Your international call cannot  be completed as dialed”  will be billed.

Two Leg Billing ( Travel Companion Access Numbers ):

Customers will be billed on the first leg from the moment they pick up the call back and hear the voice prompt until the moment they hang up on the outbound call. The second leg is billed from the moment the outbound call picks up until it hangs up. It is therefore normal for the call to be half a minute to a minute longer than they might think due to the time it takes to connect on the outbound leg. In the event the outbound or 2nd leg reaches a busy number, or the party they have tried to call is unavailable, then they will not be charged for the 2nd leg of the call. The number you tried to call will NOT show on the call detail report. Call attempts that are interrupted by an international auto attendant with messages such as:  “All international circuits are busy” or “Your international call cannot be completed as dialed” will be billed.

Travel Companion/Remote Programmable Service:

All customers with Travel Companion access numbers will receive 2-leg invoices. When a customer has a standard callback access number and an access number for the Travel Companion, two separate invoices will be generated. IDT will not be responsible for the use or misuse of this service as mentioned in the application form.
